Alana - Thanks.

Emma - Yeah, I haven't been to Vegas in years. Hope I get to check it out sometime. Thanks.

Mad Stratter -- Thanks for the comment and kind feedback. :) It is bullshit, but Molly's comment is interesting.

Molly -- GREAT comment. Thanks for piping up. I'd probably check it out if I was in New York for a long enough stay. I'm totally guilty of just assuming the posts I'd read on this were correct, that these were ads. I'll have to look into this more then before I go reposting this at Best Sex Bloggers, so thank you for such an indepth comment!!

After playing around on the Museum of Sex website for a bit, I'm not sure what these ads were orginally designed for. They don't seem to be part of any of the current exhibits. Trying to figure out where Copyranter got them from led me here:

http://www.ibelieveinadv.com/2008/12/museum-of-sex-skin-love-is-deep-instictual-bad-sex-laugh-in-bed/

which has a couple posters I actually like that are not as flame-worthy.

Now, because two of the statements in the ads are contradictory ("bad sex is better than good sex with yourself" vs. "sex is a few inches, love is deep"), I'm wondering if these ads were designed to provoke, rather than having been the design of mysognist fuckwits. In the link that I provide, they even have a poster that's fetish positive. Also, since I can't seem to find these pictures on the Museum of Sex website, I'm not even sure whether these ads are going to be used. Has anyone seen them around NYC?

Or maybe I just feel bad for the Museum of Sex being a target, since I thought their exhibit on Fetish was brilliant. I've been there, I liked some of their permanet exhibits very much, and I don't want people to feel that they're "unlikely to ever, ever be interested in the Museum of Sex if it’s going to be this misogynistic before I even put foot in the door" just because of a couple lame ads.

Shit, I'm a man and even I think this is bullshit. Bad sex = "I should have stayed home chain-smoking and watching the National Geographic channel."

You said it: bad = bad... "bad" does not mean "> none". That would be mediocre.

I love that second to last paragraph you've written, as well as that 'sex needs VERBS' paragraph.

Good stuff, I'll be back tomorrow when the laptop screen isn't so fucking blurry...

Forget NYC's museum and head to Vegas. Check out the Erotica Museum there. Much better. And no need to worry. Women are gaining the buying power to match their sensual power. Once advertisers realize where the money really is, things will change. Just takes awhile, particularly in this particular world.
